I'm a poet.
And because I'm a poet,
I have the pride of a poet,
and the background of an artist.
Yes as a poet.
I am overlooked in the group
for the work that is drawn,
and the art that is colored by the painters
I am a writer
and though my words hold power
they are seen as nothing more than words
and never get brought to their original intent
I am a writer
whose every move is watched
whose art is critiqued harsher than others
who's still unknown as an artist
I am an author,
who wears my heart on my sleeve
who leaves everything bare to judgment
who never asks for more than is due
I am an artist,
but I don't always get treated as such

We Poets Are Frustrated...
We Poets Are Frustrated...
I am sure that you have all experienced this feeling:
A masterpiece eclipsed by the baying of a brat!
A raucous rhyme, so emotionally raw;
Shadowed by a child's melancholia...
Alone in the darkness, you lick your lips and growl.
Your anger, so evidently understandable; yet you forget your own abilities!
In despair, my dearest sibling, you have forgotten — yourself
Why fear an obstacle so easily overcome?
Why shred your works with such heavy tears?
Have you forgotten that we are the original craftsman?
Our tongues birthed as our chisels and axe!
We need only take these simple themes
And corrupt them with all

When I Said

This.
When I said I wanted a fairy tale
I meant I wanted to be a princess.
I didn't want to watch a rose
Die.
I didn't want to wear the gown
Temporarily.
I wanted it
Forever.
See,
When I said I wanted a fairy tale...
I expected it to end in a

We Have News On Your Daughter
It's early December
We sit in our daughters room
Looking over her possessions
Praying she will be home soon
Just in time for Christmas
Her presents are under the tree
Ready to create some more
Of those beautiful memories
It's now mid December
Terror has frozen our tears
As our angels face is slowly
Beginning to disappear
Our lives are a landfill
For unimaginable pain
As her baby brother weeps
Wanting his sister back again
It's now late December
The festivities have past
As searches for our princess
Are slowly scaled back
A knock on the front door
The endless fall to the ground
"We have news on your daughter
A body has
